THERAPY SERVICES
Help – Hope – Healing
Improving Coping Strategies, Fostering Resiliency, and Processing Trauma for Children and Youth
The Caribou Centre therapy program is designed to reduce the impacts of the abuse and help the child/youth to begin the healing process. Therapy is provided by trained, professional counsellors for children and youth who come through the Child Advocacy Center.
We offer counselling for children and youth who may have been sexually or physically abused, or who have been exposed to other types of trauma. The program is tailored to the unique needs of each individual using treatment methods that are proven effective in reducing the impacts of the abuse.
We may also provide services to siblings in an effort to support all family members impacted by the abuse. Therapists will meet with Non-offending parents/caregivers if needed, to improve their ability to support the child, and help work through their own feelings.
Our therapists are available to provide Crisis Intervention when immediate assistance is required.
These services are available free of charge for families that do not have open files with Children’s Services. If you have an assigned CS caseworker, you should discuss with them what therapy options are available for your child.
